Winter Storms in Pueblo, CO

Each year we clean up many homes that were not ready for the winter. Homeowner that leave their hoses hooked up to the hose bib are usually calling us because of a pipe freeze. Frozen pipes also occur when the temperature drops below zero for more than 24 hours. We know that we will be really busy if we Pueblo goes below zero for a few days in a row. Our homes are not used to the long cold spells and pipes will break usually at night when it’s the coldest.

One way to keep your pipes from freezing is to keep the entire home temperature above 50 degrees. Don’t turn off the heat in the home because you’re using a space heater in your room at night. You can also open your cupboards to help heat the walls behind the cabinets that hold pipes.
